VTC Enterprises is constructing a new 18,260 square foot building on our property located on ‘A’ Street in Santa Maria.  This building is needed because:

  • There is an increasing caseload in our Quality Life Services (QLS) program which serves people with the most severe disabilities. QLS is one of our fastest growing programs and presently lacks sufficient space.

  • McCoy Lane, a City street, will eventually be extended through the northern edge of our property, requiring several existing buildings that currently house QLS to be removed.

The current buildings were originally built as barracks over 60 years ago and moved to this site from San Luis Obispo.  They are in various stages of decay and disrepair due to age, pests, and moisture damage. It is not cost effective to relocate or remodel these outdated structures, so they will be demolished and replaced with a building specially designed to serve the unique needs of people in QLS.

Why A New Building?

Help Us Help Many

The mission of VTC Enterprises is to assist youth and adults with disabilities or other limitations in choosing and achieving their life goals

About Our Quality Life Services Program

VTC’s Quality Life Services (QLS) program serves individuals with the most profound challenges who require complete, ongoing supervision. QLS is one of the fastest growing programs and currently serves seventy seven people. The most common disability in this program is mental retardation, usually accompanied by other mental or physical disabilities.  Each person has the chronological age and body of an adult, but a developmental age anywhere from 3 months to 4 years. Many participants require intensive hands-on assistance with personal hygiene and eating, yet each has a wonderfully distinct personality and way of communicating preferences and needs, whether verbally or non-verbally.

Why A New Building?

The primary benefits of the new building will be:

  • Adequate space to accommodate more people with disabilities.

  • Ability to expand our high quality services to those in need.

  • A calmer atmosphere and adequate space that promotes better concentration, communication, learning, and skills retention.

  • A built in courtyard that will allow program participants to enjoy more independence in an outdoor setting while providing optimal safety.

  • Improved interior lighting for good vision and task conditions well-placed windows for more natural light and fresh air.

Help Us Help Many

The Quality Life Services program has continuously served over 300 individuals with the most profound disabilities, many for decades throughout their adult lives.  VTC’s economic impact in our community is significant, estimated at $25 million per year when factoring in the multiplier effect of our annual budget.   But VTC’s personal impact on the individuals served, their families, the people who employ them, and the community at large is far more significant.

We believe that the quality of life in our community is a direct result of how we care for our friends and family.  As our community continues to grow, the demand for vital services also grows.  The new Quality Life Services building will ensure that VTC Enterprises will be here for decades to come to provide peace of mind for families who rely on us.
